Dr. Lisa Leit Provides Insight into Business Collaboration, Communication, and Conflict Resolution

Dr. Lisa Leit, PhD, MCC, founder of the Happy Whole Human (HWH) program is an executive coach, management consultant, workshop leader, motivational keynote speaker, and coaching trainer. Because of her in-depth knowledge, Dr. Leit is providing us with some insight into how the Happy Whole Human (HWH) program can assist organizations and individuals with collaboration, communication, and conflict resolution. 

Conflicts at work can cause tensions to be very high within the organization. Dr. Leit confirms this, “Although we mostly try to avoid it, meaningful discussions are critical to helping us and the entire operation.” A lot of us feel like it’s safer to just tread lightly. So, how can we develop the skills it takes to make conflict actually result in resolution? Especially, if we don’t feel equipped to deal with the consequences. 

Dr. Leit answers with this, “It’s about having a desire to learn, being aware of what we need and want, understanding what is going on with other people, and then applying that awareness to our communications.” But how can we communicate more effectively? What are we doing that we aren’t aware of that is actually counteractive to our desires? Dr. Leit explains, “We aren’t always aware of our self-defeating mechanisms. These are strategies that we subconsciously use to protect ourselves, but can actually end up hurting us in the end. Especially, in our relationships in the workplace, where we have the most to lose.” 

Learning to collaborate in a way that actually increases productivity is another tedious task. There are so many factors that come into play when we discuss what it means to actually collaborate. Dr. Leit explains, “It all starts with the individuals in the organization being more mindful. We assist leadership by providing an aggregate report card of company wellness across 28 dimensions of wellbeing, highlighting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). We then determine which areas are working for the individuals and what’s actually working against them. When it comes to our coworkers, it can be easy to accidentally get into power struggles, offend people, or miss opportunities to connect and collaborate.” 

Fortunately, Dr. Leit’s Happy Whole Human (HWH) program can assist when it comes to communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution. She is a specialist in developmental psychology and has had success with over 2000 clients and students. Dr. Leit explains how her program evolved, “ I realized at some point that the method I was using was working with every single client I had. I knew that I had to offer this as a program so that I could help clients on a larger scale.” She continues, “ I saw that there was a real need for wellness initiatives that are easy to use, results-driven, and that actually work. Dr. Leit explains, I think one aspect of the Happy Whole Human (HWH) program that has ultimately made it so enriching is the application of neuroscience towards health and happiness. We are using this knowledge to help clients with organization and offer tools for healthy behavioral changes.” Dr. Leit outlines what this looks like in an organizational context, “ We use evidence-based approaches which factor in the latest studies on a range of perspectives of organizational wellbeing. Our approach bridges fields of psychology, sociology, neuroscience, business and management, economics, and science, and other emerging issues to create a program that will create lasting results.” She continues, “In the organization we provide coaching and support that will assist the whole person, and this will create a more harmonious work environment.”
